In the shadowed vale of Delphi a monstrous serpent named Python guarded the sacred spring. Its coils stretched across the land, striking fear into mortals and gods alike.
The young god Apollo radiant with light and music, descended upon the valley. With his golden bow, he loosed arrows swift as sunbeams. The Python writhed and fell, its reign of terror ended.
Victorious, Apollo claimed the site as his own. He built a temple upon the slopes of Mount Parnassus, and there established the Oracle of Delphi, where priestesses spoke the will of the god to kings and seekers.
From that day, Delphi became the navel of the world, a place where divine wisdom flowed, born of Apollo’s triumph over darkness.
